Editorial policy

LaoBrief exists to help people understand what matters. Trust matters more to us than reach. These are the rules we follow in every article.

Simple, not simplistic

We explain complicated ideas clearly without removing important context. When a technical term has no widely understood Lao word, we give the English term next to the Lao explanation.

Verify before publishing

We don't publish claims just because they are trending. Whenever possible, we use primary sources, official announcements, original reports, recognised research and credible news organisations.

  • Every article needs at least one source. The site will not publish an article without one.
  • Sources are named and linked at the end of each article.
  • We show when an article was published and when it was last updated.

Explain uncertainty, separate fact from opinion

If a story is still developing, we say so. We don't present speculation as fact. Facts, analysis and opinion are kept clearly apart.

Neutral tone

We write in a calm, neutral and factual tone. On public-policy or sensitive topics, we aim to help readers understand, not to tell them what to think: we explain the different positions, cite evidence and avoid inflammatory framing.

No misleading clickbait

Headlines should make you curious, but they must match the article. We avoid sensational language and fear-based headlines.

Images

  • Every image has alt text, and a credit when LaoBrief does not own it.
  • Illustrations are captioned "ພາບປະກອບ / Illustration". We never present AI-generated art as a photo.

Approval

Every article is reviewed and approved by the LaoBrief team before it is published. Articles without a named author are credited to "LaoBrief team".

Independence

Commercial relationships do not influence our conclusions. Sponsored content always carries a visible label. See our sponsored content policy.

When we get it wrong

We correct mistakes quickly and log significant corrections in public. See Corrections and our AI policy.
